Art allows me to explore the world with an optimistic lens, documenting and appreciating each day. I challenge myself to take risks with the paint brush — this can be exhilarating, exhausting, frustrating, rewarding. Regardless, the studio is a personal sanctuary where I find peace no matter what is going on in the world outside.

When time permits I paint portraits with a person posing in front of me. We visit, listen to music, and get to know each other. It is a great joy to meet people and look them in the eye — the connection I build with the painting and the person being painted feels intimate, a fascinating journey.
